Google gets 32% increase in revenue, Paid Clicks gain by 42%

It seems that Google and the internet are synonymous. For every answer, for every query, you have Google result – the God of Internet. In the second quarter this year, Google revenue is up by 32 percent compared to the earnings in 2011 Q2.

The greatest contributor to the revenue boost is the paid clicks. There is a year on year increase of 42 percent in the paid click in Q2 this year. Even with this comparison, there has been only a slight 1 percent increase compared to the first quarter this year. Whereas the net Google income in this period remained $2.79 billion and this includes the revenue out of the Motorola Mobility as well. MXYF7PKBVT2Y

Save your website from ‘Block all www.--------.com results’ on Google

There are websites we visit and revisit and there are website we want to avoid in the search results. For this Google gives every user the privilege to block results from a particular website. Though the blocked URLs have no immediate effect on the overall performance of the website, it is in the long run that might affect the website. As Google gives high priority to what people search, it is important that there is not a single person on the web who blocks your website on Google search results.

Suppose a person searches for ‘Web Design and Development Company’, he gets a lot a searches. He visits the first website listed but fails to get the required information or results and he then wants to punish the website for putting up fake stuff he can press ‘Block all www.*******.com results’ after he comes back on the search results page. However, individual blocking has no impact on a website, it is said that bulk blocking in exceeding numbers could impact the search trend for a particular website. Since blocking the results from a particular website is only an individual activity, it cannot have a mass blocking effect on all users therefore it rarely affects a website in the search results. The possible triggers of ‘Block all www.*****.com results’ could be caused by site design, content or in most of the cases it is individual preference. Keeping all things including content, web design and user friendliness of the website in shape; one can avoid the website from getting too many ‘Block all www.*****.com results’ from users.

Google Bans Guns, Ammunition and Knives Listings from Google Shopping

Google has become the touchstone for a website’s performance. If it is performing on it well, it is a good website, if not, it’s of no use. Reason for this is simple. Majority of people search on Google and being prominently on Google means that the investments on the website are justified. But, Google too is evolving itself and has recently banned all the guns, ammunition and knives related listings from Google shopping. It is said that Google is conveying this information to the merchants about the new development and is not inviting any more weapon related listings on Google shopping.

However, Google continues to have the AdWords ads on the shopping results pages for these keywords or their combinations. This is because Google is updating its AdWords policy soon. Another important thing to witness is that the at the top right page there is a Shopping search box that searches other products, thus Google is promoting shoppers to search for some other products if there are no search results for a particular product name.

The Google ban on arms and ammunition searches seems not to infringe with the rights of the US citizens to keep arms and is in no way against the constitution. Detailing about the new policy, Google has said to have in its letter sent to the banned products merchants reportedly said that it disallows products that are incompatible with the values it holds. Meanwhile, the ban on listing of products on Google has not been criticized as Google can decide what it wants to list and what not. It is also found the recent changes in the Google Shopping listing will be affecting the searches as well but it is up to Google what it lists and what is denies.

Yahoo Answers has 300 million questions

People seem to be desperate about things on the internet and are posting their queries and possible answers on Yahoo Answers in large numbers. As per the latest buzz, since 2005 over 300 million questions have been asked on Yahoo Answers. This impressive figure must have brought slight tremors in Google chambers. But despite this achievement, the activity on Yahoo is slower as compared to Bing and Google. Still people are searching for answers and Yahoo Answers provides them with the solutions. Information about the new milestone achievement by Yahoo also suggests that people across the globe ask two questions and posts six answers to questions on the search engine giant powered answers every second. So the people answering are more than those asking questions.

Is this a strong indicator that Yahoo is getting a good grip these days compared to Google and Bing? Or, is it an indication that that search engine optimization should also focus on Yahoo and Bing in order to get an overall good ranking for websites? Almost all the web promotions target only Google, it is also good to target these other two search engines as there has been an increase of over five percent activity on Bing in US in May 2012 compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, there has been an increase in activity on Yahoo as well.  It is Baytech Web Design that prepares a comprehensive search engine optimization plan for a website and arrives at a robust plan that makes sure that the website appears prominently on searches for keywords relevant to the site.
